Summer Safety Series: Heat Related Injuries, Lightning, Blister Care and Snake Bites
The PATC Hikes Committee, in partnership with the Center for Wilderness Safety, invites PATC members to a free, live video program designed to help hikers, hike leaders, and outdoor enthusiasts stay safer on the trail this season:
Conquer the trails safely this season by joining our expert-led webinar, Summer Safety Series, where we break down the most critical risks and how to manage them. You will learn to recognize and treat heat exhaustion and heat stroke, respond quickly to sudden lightning storms, and master blister prevention and care to keep you moving comfortably. We will also demystify snakebite protocols, teaching you exactly what to do—and what not to do—in an emergency. Whether you are a casual day-hiker or an experienced backpacker, this session will equip you with the essential medical knowledge and survival skills needed to handle summer's unique hazards with confidence.
The 75-minute session will be held on July 29 at 7:00 p.m. and is open to PATC members only.
