Description
Appalachian Tr. Guide to Shenandoah NP+side trails (Book 7) 16th edition (2024)
The sixteenth edition of this hiking guide is necessary reading for long distance hikers trekking the 105 miles of the Appalachian Trail through Shenandoah National Park.
This edition features a photograph of one of the most stunning geologic formations in the park, the columnar basalt found to the south off the AT as it traverses the summit of Compton Peak.
The guide includes substantial information about the flora, fauna, and geology of the area as well as trail health and safety information. It also includes updated information about resources and current Park regulations related to hiking and camping.
The edition also includes an introduction from the new SNP superintendent. There have been no major changes to the AT or to the side trails since the last edition. The trails in this guide are shown on PATC Maps 9, 10, and 11.
