The new edition of Part C, revised by Larry Broadwell and William Needham, includes four new hikes in addition to significant updates to seven hikes familiar from prior editions
. The authors have also expanded the information in the introductory sections to the individual hikes and to the seven geographic areas covered in the book; these sections now include descriptions of cultural and natural histories of the areas and other parks and preserves within them.
The expanded edition, at 152 pages, still fits within a pocket and can easily be carried on the trail. (Companion books "A" and "B" cover Maryland Counties northwest of DC and Northern Virginia.)
